Imperial County Health Inspections

The Imperial County Public Health Department Division of Environmental Health is responsible for inspecting hundreds of food establishments in the valley, including restaurants, convenience stores, vending, and mobile food services.

Health inspections by the department are conducted daily. As a public service to our website visitors, ivnews.INFO pays for and obtains the inspection reports for publishing. Because of the volume of reports filed every week, we have chosen to publish the entirety of only those inspections that are marked as being ‘Fair’ or ‘Poor’ for full-kitchen restaurants and other businesses that only ‘process’ food items, such as convenience and grocery stores, as well as inspections noting detection or prevention of ‘vermin’ and ‘insects.’

The health department requires all food handlers to have ‘health cards’ issued through the health department for disease-screening. Additionally, a business that serves food is required to have a ‘Food Permit.’ A ‘Food Safety Certificate’ is required and issued either to the owner of the business or the primary food-handling manager following an educational course and examination by the county.
