Letters to the Editor: Mr. Trump, please don’t run. The nation needs healing, not you.
I wish I could disagree with everyone I disagree with, but I can’t. That’s why a lot of my correspondence with the president is on his desk today.
Mr. Trump, I’m not a “con.” I’ve said this and I’ll repeat it: You are my enemy. You’ve been for almost a year. For months, you’ve been at war with me and the Republican Party. The Republican Party is now your enemy.
I have no choice but to love the Republicans. I have to trust them, give them the benefit of the doubt, because my daughter will not be allowed to marry a Democrat. I have to trust them.
I love John McCain, and I love Marco Rubio, but I don’t trust you. I’m not voting for either of them.
Please do not run for a third term in the White House. My vote has to be for third-term nominees for the Senate and the House.
As a conservative who has followed your career since the 1960s, thank you for all you have done.
Now I see the writing on the wall. Trump is a loser. He is a “con”, a liar, a con-man. I wish the GOP would finally drop him as a candidate, but the GOP has no one else.
As a lifelong Republican, and a lifelong voter, I believe that Mr. Trump will not be your next president. I believe you are an embarrassment to the party you claim to represent. And I will never vote for you.
I will continue to do what I have always done: vote my conscience, in good faith and with the hope that good can come out of our political situation.
But as I continue to do so, I will say this: I’m sorry for you and your family. I am sorry for the damage you are doing to our party, and to our country.
I hope you don’t run, and I pray that God has mercy on your soul.
Your friend,
Thomas P. Moran

Trump has been a disaster, not only for our country but for the Republicans, as well
