Nadal says Vesely played well and he won’t win again

Rafael Nadal isn’t confident about World Tour Finals after suffering Paris Masters defeat to Jiri Vesely

The World No.1 went down 6-2, 6-3 to Jiri Vesely in a second-round match which lasted nearly two hours, but he didn’t think the defeat was particularly harsh.

”I think Visely played well,” Nadal told CNN. ”If you are going to play that level of tennis for four hours, you are not at all going to win every match.

”And he has been here before. He was in the quarter-finals in Madrid and lost 2-6, [0-6] [6-1]. There were a lot of mistakes on his forehand.”

Nadal’s confidence was echoed by his coach, who said Vesely was good enough to win on his day.

”I don’t think he will win again,” said the Spaniard’s father, Jose Nadal, who has a long history of playing in the men’s game. ”You can never be 100 percent sure of anything.”

Despite the victory in France, Federer will still be looking to win back the last eight matches in three weeks, after losing to his compatriot Marcel Granollers at the Indian Wells Masters in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Wednesday.
