Calexico onions test positive for salmonella, voluntary recall announced

Iceless green onions supplied by Circle Produce in Calexico tested positive for the salmonella bacteria and at least two California shippers issued voluntary recalls of the produce on Friday.

A Circle Produce representative confirmed Saturday that the test for salmonella was positive and that it was conducted in New York. However, ivnews.INFO was referred to the president of the company, Terry Poiriez, for further comment. He has not responded to our request for comment.
Ocean Mist Farms, a Castroville shipper of Circle’s onions, began a “precautionary, voluntary recall” of 1,746 cases of iceless green onions and its president, Ed Boutonnet, said they have suspended receiving Circle’s green onions.
In Salinas, Steinbeck Country Produce is recalling 3,360 cartons of the onions shipped to other areas of California, Massachusetts, Texas, Indiana, New York, Michigan, Missouri, Kansas and Arizona.

A Business Wire report said the salmonella discovery was a result of routine testing by the USDA and that the onions were grown in Mexicali, although ivnews.INFO has not been able to confirm that with Circle’s Poiriez.
The USDA has not reported any illnesses associated with the onions, but consumers are being advised to destroy iceless green onions purchased in the last month under the Ocean Mist label with the lot code of 95ONCP7G, and under Steinbeck’s Nature’s Reward label with lot code numbers of 96CPGO07 or 9CPO937.

Samlonella poisoning is very deadly. governments should impose tighter regulations with regards to food inspection.
in our place some vegetables have been contaminated with Salmonella. the local health office have been able to react quickly and have those contaminated vegetables taken off immediately from the shelves. at least 20 people have suffered from Salmonella here.
And where is ‘here’ that people have suffered from salmonella, melatoninsleepaid?
